Meet the artist: Amber L Ryder

I love to dabble in every creative outlet I can! I believe you never stop growing and learning both in life and in your passions. I strive to learn new things everyday, experiment often, dance in the rain, enjoy every moment, notice what others overlook, and take nothing for granted.

Hello! Talking about myself is not something that comes easy for me so hopefully I can get through this short bio without completely boring you to death.

I am the mother of two amazing young men who I strive to inspire and teach all of those important life lessons everyday. My husband is amazing and he works so very hard to support us and puts up with my ever growing collection of craft supplies and hobbies, as well as my sometimes chaotic studio spaces and the never-ending household chores that often get neglected when I'm in a 'creative' mode.

A Creative Specialist...

“I had a boss once label me as the 'Creative Specialist' and I rather like that title. It doesn't tie me down to one creative outlet, because honestly I think I'd go crazy doing the same thing everyday. I gotta throw this creativity around like confetti!”

I have a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art Photography and worked several years as a portrait photographer, with a few weddings for friends, after college. I've also worked as a videographer filming/editing commercials, recitals, mission trip documentaries, etc. I grew up in a veterinarian office where my mom worked. I would stand on a stool and watch in quiet fascination as the doctor preformed various surgeries all day. Later I also worked several years in a few different veterinary hospitals. There's no denying my love for animals. (We'll get to that later.) Let's see I've worked in food service, costumer service, farm hand, retail, lunch lady.... Within several of these jobs I've been the on site IT person (I love computers and anything techy). I've developed and managed several websites and social media outlets for past employers as well as various other 'creative' services.

Animals make me happy

We have horses, dogs, cats, chickens, and maybe someday some goats. I spend a good deal of my energies pampering our pets and wildlife. When I'm not playing or making something for the animals I'm usually working on a home improvement project. Maybe I'll blog about some of those as well, everybody loves a good before and after picture right?.

Family time is very important to me, whether it's spending time with my guys on the lake or a big family gathering. We always make time for family. And sometimes you just have to get away, travel, recharge those batteries. Gain a different perspective from a different direction. We are lucky enough to have family who live close enough to take care of our little farm and critters when we do take trips. And although I enjoy an occasional trip I'm a big homebody. Curling up with a good book, a warm cup of tea, and a cozy blanket sound pretty perfect to me. And you can be sure I'll end up with a cat or two sitting with me.

Stay Humble and Kind

“I'm not afraid to admit that I have no idea what I'm doing sometimes. If we don't ask questions, do the research and investigating, we'll never grow past what we know today.”

I draw on my own life experiences and lessons for a lot of things, but sometimes you have to ask questions. Listen, observe, take a step back...take a break.

Be Inspired by Life

There is so much that surrounds us everyday to which we can draw inspiration from. It doesn't always have to be happy or beautiful to invoke a deep feeling. You just have to notice it and mold it into something you can use. Never stop growing and learning.
